B.A.D was founded in 2014 by Akira Saotome. After studying law at Ritsumeikan University, he moved to Australia in 2002 and earned a degree in interpreting and translation at Western Sydney University. He built his marketing career inside global companies — as an account manager at Reuters and a senior marketing manager at Dell. Having worked on the global side himself, he understands first-hand the challenges global teams face growing in Japan: the distance between HQ and the local market, the language barrier, and making a global strategy actually work on the ground. He founded B.A.D to solve exactly those challenges — for companies in the same position he once was.
